The Green

Our Ground

We’re very fortunate to play on one of the most picturesque grounds in the UK. The pitch sits on the large, historic Village Green, away from the main road, with sweeping views towards open fields and the Chilterns beyond.

The Green is a safe environment for young kids to be let off the leash, with a wonderful children’s playground just a cricket ball’s throw from the square, plenty of room for bikes and kicking a ball, as well as our own net facilities and tennis courts. It is the most peaceful setting for a hard fought game of cricket.

The Green has been the setting for several major feature films and TV shows, providing the backdrop to numerous episodes of 'Midsomer Murders’, and features twice in The Cricketer magazine’s 2021 calendar.

Pitch & Parking

We enjoy a professionally-tended 10 track square with a good-sized, well-maintained outfield. Each match has a freshly rolled and prepared wicket, with additional shorter junior wickets for our thriving youth section, and the outfield is heavily rolled at the start of each season.

There is plenty of free parking available outside the pub and under the trees beside the pavilion.

The ground and all our facilities are available for hire.

Pavilion

Our Edwardian pavilion has been completely renovated for the 2024 cricket season, and for wider community use. We now have multiple changing facilities, and brand new kitchen and bathroom facilities. It sits in the shadow of the Jubilee Oak, (the tree on our logo) under which senior men’s tea is served between innings on trestle tables and benches.

The pavilion is available for hire separately to the ground. Click ‘Hire Us’ above.

Club Bar…

…is The Six Bells pub next door! Always the venue for post-match refreshment and analysis, with it’s award winning beer garden, fine local ales and honest pub grub. Many visiting teams meet here for an early lunch before strolling over to the pitch. You may even find yourself starring in photographs taken by the occasional bus load of Midsomer Murder fans, the pub having featured in many episodes.

Beyond The Green

Warborough is a great spot for a family day out, whether you're playing or watching - it’s traffic free surroundings mean it is safe for kids with leisurely walks and cycle routes extending from the ground. The River Thames is a 15 minute walk away at Shillingford, with a boat hire facility and cafe at Benson. The famous Wittenham Clumps provide dramatic views across the surrounding countryside, and can be reached by foot from the old roman village of Dorchester across the river. Oxford Wet ‘n’ Wild is just up the road at Queenford Lakes.

The nearby town of Wallingford with its historic castle ruins, offers independent shops and restaurants with riverside pubs and river bathing. Both Henley-on-Thames and Oxford are a 20 minute drive away.
